Place the tape measure around your dog's neck while they are standing, exactly where the collar should sit. The adjustment range consists of 3 holes – the middle hole should correspond exactly to the measured neck circumference. There is one additional hole on either side for sufficient play. This eliminates an unnecessarily large adjustment range, allowing almost the entire length of the collar to be used for a coherent, lovingly designed aesthetic.
